Had a look on google as you have most likely already done and her call sign not given would imagine this would have been changed also when she changed hands . Best chance if no operators sailed on her Is if any pictures of her flying her call sign. Wouldn’t mind betting her first two letters are GR though , a pure gamble on the R , but not the G .Hope someone can supply.Regards JWS.

Could also be an 'M' John, as believe that was also a first letter assigned to UK vessels

Think it was when they ran out of Gs. The only call sign I can remember. About the time of the 50s was a ship GRDF. But can’t remember if was a ship built in 1943 or 1956. The Oxfordshire was sold I believe to foreign owners according to google. I used to know someone out here who sailed on her when she was trooping but haven’t seen him for years , pity because he would have known. Funny because his certificate number had 1 digit at the end of a 5 digit number different of mine so must have sat at the same era, the first time Met was out here.
    Cheers JS
If the poster is reading this his name if my memory is correct was Phil Griffen or maybe Griffiths He would of been one of the mates there. Whenever that was.i sat my masters cert. at the end of 1963 . My number was
    XXX69 his was XXX7O JS...
