I'm sure I also remember her in the late 70's, though by then she had come up in the world, had been promoted to Sister and would only associate with Bank Line engineers

    Default Effluent Disposal Carriers

    to Roy Lomas,
On the Thames they were known as the Bovril Boats, when I was with Westminster dredging we always tried to beat them to the dumping grounds. The smell they left after dumping (unintentional pun) was indescribable

    Default Thistlebank- 4 masted barque

I have 2 photographs of the 4-masted barque, Thistlebank, that my grandfather sailed on. The first she is fully rigged and the second she is at anchor in Puget Sound ( near Vancouver ) Wish I had a crew list.

He also sailed on the 'Glenclover' but I have never been able to find anything about her. Any ideas?
    Regards
    Bren Sh.

Any ex. Bank Line fellas remember a 2nd Mate from North Shields called Ken Duff. I did 2nd Mates with him in Shields in 71/72 and saw him later in 78 when he was standing by Bank Lines new buildings in Sunderland and had a couple of really heavy nights on the ale in North and South Shields.
He served his time with Shell Tankers and then joined Bank Line to see the world, as he said.
Last I saw of him he had married an Australian girl he had met and they had a baby boy and were living back in the North East.
I believe when Bank Line started going to the wall they emigrated to Australia where I think he became a Lecturer in a nautical college in Tasmania.
