You had to be over 21 though Brian. I remember going into a pub in Vancouver the same 21 drinking age , and I had just passed 21 , had gone ashore with no identity and the saloon man refused to serve me. I mustn’t have looked my age then , wish it was the same today , don’t think they would ask my age today. JS

I have Rhesus 0 Negative blood valued at $7.50 at St Clare's hospital. Straight off the Lizzies gangway, uptown bus, drop an armful, back to the Diner and enjoy my blood money.

try buying some grog from Amazon - they wont hand it over till you show proof of age.

in 1978 got a skinfull for $1, waiting for a ship in New York we found this little burger place done out like a pub, $2.50 for a burger with all the trimmings, for an extra $1 - all the beer you can drink - silly fools, didnt bank on a geordie and a yorkshireman with wife (good drinker an all). Three days we went there, actually joined the ship with more money than I arrived with (got bnb at good hotel on Lexington avenue plus $25 subsistence).

One of our Firemen donated Blood at five stations then collapsed outside one,.
They dragged him in and gave him a full transfusion, cost about $250
a fortune in 1956, Cunard paid up and he had to pay back from his wages.

Looked in to find out more from RLT and trust he is OK.

Once again a thread has been taken over and I wonder
if some need to ask the nurse for more meds.

All the best to RLT while I am here but, pointless looking in again.

Cape Town, Brandy for 1 Rand a bottle, about $1 dollar in Oz money now.
But with the passing of time it is now more in the region of 20 times that.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.
