I know the anxiety you must be going through Chris, i have only one eye in affect as it was a detached retina, and am waiting for a cataract op on the other, our eyes are so precious to us, and not until something goes wrong do we appreciate how important they are. Am sure all will be ok Chris, the eye dep in hospitals are pretty incredible in my experience, kt

That's what happened to me Keith T
In 1982 was at work and this sort of Curtain just came closing in across my Eye (Left one) did not then know what was happening but fast acting on reporting this immediately to my Boss, who did not ask any questions just put me in his Car and rushed me to Westmead Hospital.
The Eye Specialist took a quick examination and I was taken there and then into Surgery no waiting or even time to get hold of my Wife!
She of course was later phoned and came in to see me,in Bed with the Eye all Bandaged .
They had taken the Eye out and Lasered the Retina back on,a very good job and although I now see things smaller with the left Eye its been fine for many Years. Now like others need to get the Cataracts done Oh Dear! LOL

Michael, I see that you are from Oakville. Ontario. Living in Toronto for 3 years (early 1953-late 1955) and my Uncle living in St Catherines, I went through Oakville past the Ford Motor complex many times. I recall coming home on the QE11 Highway a sign seeing "Welcome to Toronto, Population 648,000". Going back for a visit in 1978 there was a new area, 'Mississauga' and I was amazed at the growth. I also remember a pretty spot before Oakville called Bronte.
    Regards, Richard

In 74 I was on a job running Canadian crude from Oakville to the refinery in Montreal, with the odd run to Windsor and Sarnia. I recall a nice little pub The Pig and Whistle? a short walk up the road from the jetty, after our first visit the barman would have our beers ready before we were halfway to the bar.
We got kicked off the job when the Canadian unions got wind, the ultimatum was to either pay us Canadian wages or leave. So it must have been cheaper for Shell to take the leave option, one final shot tho, with a cargo to Port Alfred on way out.
Probably the best quality stores ever loaded while on that job, especially the fresh fruit, sticks in my mind.

Apologies doc, got off track, I got memory issues as well as eyes, something triggered my memory and replied before I forgot what I was going to do.

Point taken Vernon. When cherished memories pop up it is a sometimes a reflex.

Just a short update on Chris
Spoke to him the other day and he has now had both Eyes done, the second one went well thank goodness and it is now all a matter of time for things to settle for him.
But he is quite OK and hopefully will be back with us doing his duties as before ,so just time now.
I am glad to hear all went well for him.
Looking forward to having you back full time Chris
    All the best
    Cheers
