    Default Athelprincess

I joined the one of only 2 Drycargo Vessels that Athel had during Sixties,
The ATHELPRINCESS. We joined her in Copanhagen drydock after she
had been lengthend. We went to Mexico and loaded Sulphur for a 3 port
discharge in Kiwi, then back to Aussie, ( Port Pirie) and loaded Zinc Ore
for Avonmouth, A good little trip. Her name was then changed to the
SUGAR EXPORTER, or IMPORTER, I am not sure which.

    Mick Filbee.

Hi Jack, according to my discharge papers i paid off in Auckland 14-06-65. I resigned articles in Copenhagen 02-04-65 after working by whilst the vessel was lengthened at Burmiester and Wain shipyards. For an 16-17yr old it was a great adventure. after signing off i rejoined the nz shipping scene.
    Cheers
