Re: Can you help please
Hello Doc.
Thank you very much for your reply and sorry for posting it in the wrong place. I'm not very familiar with your site.
But; it could be that this person is the Kenneth Moxon I'm trying to find. If 26/02/1920 is his day of birth it very well could be. My mother was from 14/11/1924. But is his age at that time not a bit young to be captain of a ship?! I have two letters, one without date and one dated 15/07/1949, written "at sea". The first letter is signed Captain K.Moxon, c/o Wall Scheepvaart Agentuur Rotterdam.
This is all I have and I've been trying for ages to find any information. So you understand that any further information would be more than welcome.
Thanks very much for you help so far and I hope to hear from you.
PS: I have a picture of him aboard a ship.
Greetings,
Marcel / Ridderkerk / Netherlands

Re: Can you help please
Hi Marcel
Well going by the dates you mention of sounds like it is him?
As for age, well not sure as to what age he was but it is quite possible that as a younger Person, he could well have been a Captain, all depended on his abilities etc.
But if you can get to find out if the date is correct (Birth) then you can be sure!
There is a Doc called a CRS10 which will hold all of his Sea Time, this is something that you could apply for through the National Archives, then you can see the list of Ships, his full details Ranks etc.
His other Link i gave Seamans Pouch will have Basic Info, plus should also have a Picture of him when Joining.
Cheers
CRS10 Possible Link here
Mountain A to Moxon W J | The National Archives
NB If applying please also quote his Seamans Pouch Ref. Number i gave .
Cheers

Re: Can you help please
The Ship in Question ?
SS La Valette The only Ship i can find with that name is an American Warship, so am now wondering if he was possibly not in the British Merchant Navy , and perhaps in the American (Merchant) Mercantile Marine! ?
Another side of this story?
Cheers
So those Links i gave for the Moxon , may in fact not be his ??
Oh dear! The plot deepens!!
