Yes John the wheelhouse bell. A couple of years ago my daughter bought me a replica of the wheelhouse bell from HMAS Sydney, she said put it up outside the door, I haven't, I might start sleep walking and get up to ring it every hour.

I always found when second wheel, the longest part of the 2 hours was the 15 minutes between 1 bell and 8 bells. JS

Remember something similar, can't think if it wa Rio or Santos, but there was an internationl bar always had the red ensin crossed with the Brasilian flag behind the bar, the night we were in the ensign was down and the stars & stripes was up, needless to say the price of the booze & the girls had gone up, so were a bjt pissed of with the yanks, likewise a fight brike out, next thing we know the ships US MPs charged in swinging thier batons indiscrimanatly, needlees to say many a sore head next day. I think that was around the same time, about 1958, I was on the Romney or the Devis, long time ago, but great times👍⚓
