    Default Time Used At Sea.

For the benefit of non seamen and others who are not Aware….
The Times used by seamen are Greenwich Mean Time (G.M.T.). local ( or Ships Mean Time ( L.M.T. Or S.M.T.) Zone Time ( Z.T.) and Local or Ships Apparent Time ( L.A.T. Or S.A.T.)
Greenwich Mean Time is based on the passage of the mean Sun across the meridian of Greenwich. It is universally adopted for navigational purposes and is sometimes referred to as Greenwich Civil Time , World Time, or Universal Time.
Local or ships mean Time is based on the passage of the mean Sun across the meridian of the ships locality. It is G.M.T. Plus or minus the longitude of the position.
Zone Time is a time measured at every 15th. Meridian, and applies to the area 7.5 degrees on each side of it.- all times are thus complete hours- from 1 to 12 - different from G.M.T. Those in East Longitude being plus to G.M.T. , those in West Longitude being minus. It applies only to the seas.
Local ( or ships) Apparent time is based on the passage of the True sun across the meridian of the ships position. The amount it differs from L.M.T. Is known as the Equation of Time.

However probably on a more interesting point the Times of London is much more accurate than say the Daily Mirror in its accuracy of reporting the truth. JS

Add UCT, universal cordinate time, based on the atomic clock in boulder, Colorado, which is used in electronic navigation systems, A.I.S, GPS etc.

Then add the time you were ashore longer than you should be and how you just managed with a glib mouth to avoid a logging.
