#9 Rodney you sound very much like myself especially as regards public speaking and was in my 60 s before I would get up and even give a toast . I was a late starter in a well known fraternity and to be in the Chair one was made by the members to feel comfortable when having to do so. Similar on ships were little trouble as was among people who lived the same lifestyle. However when it came to talking to strangers it was a no no. As regards stuttering I was about 14/15 before managed to get rid of the worst of it and going to sea was the final knock out blow. I always feel sorry for youngsters with a speech impediment , but today they can get treatment , not so in our time , if it was there it cost money and that itself was a barrier. Leaving school at 15 , one was armed with the three Rs , reading writing and arithmetic which was sufficient to teach oneself with , especially the reading. So after reading Mickey Spillane and all gory things one could then settle down to the serious business of self education . Cheers JS

Yes well I can just see you with toast.
Breakfast and with Vegimite on it.

In a store looking for a new toaster and the man said' try this one it takes four slices'
Fine I said, then what do I do with the remainder?
