    Default Religions

Judaism First of the great monothestic religions ( worshipping one God ) was a distinctive faith under Moses who is supposed to have received the 10 Commandments . Key Beliefs .. the created world is essentially good and see in human history Gods Divine Plan.
    Holy books the Torah.
Christianity..Jesus Christ 6 BC - AD 30. The founder of the Religion that bears his name was a Jew.His claim to speak with Gods authority brought him into conflict with the Jewish establishment and eventually arrested and crucified in Jerusalem.
*****..meaning Submission to God dates from AD 622, when the prophet
Muhammad fled from persecution in Mecca to Medina an event known as the Hegira. By the time of his death in 632 all Arabia had embraced the new religion.
Hinduism..originated in Northern India some 4000+ years ago. And by 11 th century had replaced Buddhism as the dominant religion in India.
Buddhism.. Gautama, the Buddha or enlightened one was born about 560 BC
    In lowland Nepal.
There are other religions and those described are just the absolute barebones of their emergence into society . For further enlightnent would have to take the time to find out for oneself and not listen to gossip. The facts are there if wanted , Cheers JS

So according to that you can toss a coin and take up which ever you fancy.

But with every one there is a price to pay.
It may not be obvious at the time but somewhere along the line the priest, Rabi or who ever will want money at least before he takes your soul.

They are all based however on some every simple rules on how to live a good life, 10 commandments are such.

But somewhere along the way there will be those who claim their's is the chosen one.
So religious wars, religious terrorists and they continue to tell us they are the way.

In some ways correct, the way to bloody hell.

I have notice since the pandemic that at mass now the only one to get any wine is the priest.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

#2 Including all those not mentioned like Sikhism and Taoism, plus all the various offshoots from them all including Christianity. Where would we be without beliefs one may ask ? JS

John Oz, that is why RC Priests are fond of the drink just look at Father Jack Hackett(Father Ted)
Unless things changed in the RC church it was only the priest that got the wine during communion.

    Hello James
Many many things have changed in the Catholic Church since 1962 (Vatican 11 Council )
We have never discussed one another's beliefs, or otherwise, on this site.
I hope that we don't start now
    regards
    Brenda

One would hope so Brenda, you might mention your concerns about religion to those that started the thread in the first place.

Whilst I rarely comment on religions

We must not forget the French religion of Money,

Sale of exocets to Argentina during the Falklands conflict

    and now

Professing to be friends of Israel

Whilst negotiating sales of Armoured vehicles to Lebanon

with friends like the French one does not need enemies
