Open toe shoes, allows the fresh air in and no smelly feet.
Some things do the same, others I hear keep it in.
Must be older than me, I remember having horse and cart delivering milk. Horse new route so well. would walk to next house while milkman was delivering
#7 Keith, not completly gone I still get milk delivered twice a week and in bottles, not by an electric milk van though.
We had a green grocer man come on Saturday.
Horse and cart with all manner of goods on board, not just veg.
Packets of chocolate covered peanuts were what I always went for.
Let mum worry about the veg.
Our milkman in Dagenham had a horse called George, we all knew him well, and always stopped to say hello on the way to school. One day he just dropped down dead in the road, sad.
A neighbour three doors along, had a horse and cart for selling fruit and veg. I would always go with him to the stable when he finished his round.
Strange that, because I've always ridden horses when I could, anywhere in the world.
My Daughter got her first horse when she was about ten, so we've always been a bit of a horsey family. Too old for it now.
You could always sit side-saddle Johnny, less strain on the nether regions :mymy:
Hi Johnny.
LIving in a village we had the farm just across from us, used to get on the big horse for a ride now and then, he was used to us as he pulled the milk cart around every morning and we kids used to pat him. All changed now farm gone big housing estate there.

At the tender age of about 8, or maybe9 I got a Saturday afternoon job.
The local grocer, Home and colonial, did a delivery run to about a dozen or so houses.
The driver drove with me in the back of the van.
When we came to the house my job was to get out and put the delivery on the door step.
For this I was paid two shillings.
But the job came to an abrupt end when a number of customers complained that their dozen eggs were only 11.
Of course they were.
I used to throw the missing ones at passing cars from the back of the van.
