Cool Re: Israel what is next???

    John, JSW. #218.

I wasn't knocking council housing John; I Was knocking Tower Hamlets. I too lived in a council house, for three years with my grandparents in Chingford Hatch, Essex. Nothing wrong with either the house, neighbors, other kids or the schools. From time to time as I returned to England either business or pleasure I would stop and visit my Gran. Chingford Hatch had never changed still was a nice neighborhood. It went from a council estate to homeowners as the council offered a very good deal to the sitting tenants.

    Cheers, Rodney.

    James #225.

Let's assume your UK election is coming up and the potential party member for x party dies and six people of the x party want to be the upcoming candidate, how is the determination made?

Who determines who is going to be a party's candidate? The party or voters?

If you decided, you wanted to be Prime Minister and you were just a member of a political party or non-affiliated, not an MP, and had personal funds to pay for ads, etc. could you run for election as individual candidate, and if you won, could you be Prime Minister?

    Cheers, Rodney

Well Rodney, I would be no worse than the numpties we have had recently.
My understanding is that Candidates are selected by the party for the constituency that he was to represent. So if one dies and there were 6 wanted to stand the remaining 5 could apply for the nomination again.

If you decided, you wanted to be Prime Minister and you were just a member of a political party or non-affiliated, not an MP, and had personal funds to pay for ads, etc. could you run for election as individual candidate, and if you won, could you be Prime Minister?

I would say no, as it is the leader of the party that won the election ? but I suppose if the leader did not want to be PM perhaps he can nominate or the party with the largest majority could nominate who the PM would be.

Thankfully here in the UK although money is very important we are thankfully, more democratic about how we do things. What has been taking place in the USA is an embarrassment to the country. Trump should be banged up in a padded cell , sorry Rodney but he is megalomanaic and a very dangerous man. He needs to be in jail.

Rodney my Australian nephews son hiS mother remarried an American and if he was an example of the American voter Trump would walk in at your next election. JS
His early education was a military academy and today he is an officer in the US army. His choices of leader of the US has not changed nor his large American family. JS

The systems on here cannot be any worse than her0e in Oz. WE have council erections but any one over 70 is not compulsory required to vote.
Then state gov who can be in for up to 4 years at a time.
Thye have the power to overrule council decisions.
Then the Feral gov who can be in for 3 years at a time and can overrule all other forms of gov if they need to.

According to the electoral commission it is compulsory to vote.

Not bloody true, no one holds a gun to your head when you vote, not like some commy lots.
What is compulsory is to have your attendance at the polling station noted.

Then we come to the vote, no such thing as first past the post, not a horse race you know.
No, they all get preferences from others.
The voting slip may have as many as a dozen names and each party will give you a slip on how to vote, what order to put them in.
So some clown, no different to any other poli, may only get 10% of the primary vote but with preferences get in.

Of course many voters go the 'donkey vote' just number from one to what ever and do not worry about the how to vote slip.

With this system we get some of the greatest DH in existence, most being career polis.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
