Default Attack on Bari, December 2 1943

    Hello,

I am trying to establish which ship my dad was on in Bari when the Italian port was attacked by Nazi bombers in December 1943. I've tried googling for a list but I can only find the ships that were sunk. Does anyone know of a complete list? Dad was with Harrisons at the time and was most likely on the Defender but I'd like to be sure.

Thank you in advance for any help.

    Will

    Hello William
I think that if your Man was on that ship , then the Following Link would have the list of the Crew.
You would have to either go to Kew, or apply online for the Record!
    Hope this may help.

What was his Full name and place and DOB. This info would help us too.
    Cheers

Thanks, Doc. I've managed to put together quite a bit about him which is on my website bramhill.net. Dad's name was William Frank Bramhill, born Liverpool 30/01/1913. It is specifically the Bari information I'm after. A visit to Kew is on the list!

Hi William, Unable to find the ship in question but if you read the following link some ships attacked appear to have code numbers instead of names. May be of help, certainly of interest. Second link is a short News Reel, third link for interest only, hope it helps. Saw your tree on Ancestry. Your father, a fine brave man indeed.

    Hi William.
My brother was in Bari on the Athel Chief but I am not sure if it was berthed there at the time of the raid, the ship spent a fair period in the Med at that time. The picture is a bit faded.

Thank you here is the Link for his Seamans Pouch, but you will need his CRS10 for his full service! On that there will be the Ships he was on with the Official Numbers! So when at Kew look into all this !
