Re: Russian Missiles hit Poland
Just about confirmed today, the rocket was from Ukraine as part of an air defense attack.
Attempting to down some air craft or other from Russian troops and it went astray.

Re: Russian Missiles hit Poland
#12 Well Des just a reminder your old mate Joe did have a non agression pact with Adolf.
The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact was a non-aggression pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union that enabled those two powers to partition Poland between them.
So to answer you and how I read history Poland was the cause of the UK declaring war on Germany.

Re: Russian Missiles hit Poland
Britain declared war on Germany because They invaded Poland under a guise of excuses similar to what Russia has done with the Ukraine. Any other excuse is void . Britain had a pact with Poland and was fulfilling its comittments.Any other reason is crap. This was taught in schools from an early age and was broadcast by the pm to the general public and the tapes are still in existence. The non aggression pact between Hitler and Stalin ,Hitler broke when he invaded the Ukraine and then Russia itself google history if via newspapers says any different then they are talking out of a hole in their rear end .JS

Re: Russian Missiles hit Poland
John,I am well aware of why the UK declared war on Germany and when Germany invaded Poland.
Yes, I also went to school. History was one of my favourite subjects. A level.
So no need for the (any other reason is crap)
Someone else who must read history and adapt parts from it to suit his needs is Valdimir Putin.
On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. To justify the action, Nazi propagandists accused Poland of persecuting ethnic Germans living in Poland. They also falsely claimed that Poland was planning, with its allies Great Britain and France, to encircle and dismember Germany.
Change the Great Britain & France to NATO and the Germany to Russia , this is exactly what Putin claimed when he invaded Ukraine.
History repeating itself over again.

Re: Russian Missiles hit Poland
Hi John.
The delay caused by the none aggression pact with Hitler gave Stalin more time to prepare for what he knew was to come, it was Hitler's biggest mistake, and Germany eventually paid for it.
What ever the ins and outs of the present conflict it was the breaking of a treaty by the Ukrainian President that originally began this conflict.

Re: Russian Missiles hit Poland
And you didn’t need an A level Des , which brings us back to council school education . One had to stay at school until 16 to sit an O level . I made enquires in 1957 about going to teachers training College and had to have 2 O levels. However they would accept a 2 mates certificate in lieu. Very kind of them . My daughter has a B.E. ( hons) degree and for the history part had to do the Hitler Years which I thought was easy peasy. In Scotland however they have higher standards and had to go for a further teaching degree to teach in Scotland which she also did. JS

Re: Russian Missiles hit Poland
There is now a theory going around here and told in USA.
Biden pulled the troops out of Afghanistan, had Trump won they would still; be there.
Putin saw the removal of troops as a weakness within USA and considered an attack on Ukraine would go unchecked.
