    I know the original post goes back a few years,but here's some brief details about the s.s.GRELROSA:-

    S.S.GRELROSA (O.N. 168718).General Cargo ship of 7,022grt built 1942 as EMPIRE GUINEVERE by Wm.Denny & Bros,Dumbarton.For the British Govmt.

    Postwar-1947 to Cardigan Sg.Co,reg'd Cardiff.

    1959 to Kam Lee Nav.Co,still reg.d Cardiff.Renamed SHUN TAI in 1960 and re-reg'd Mogadishu,Somali flag.
    Fate:As Shun Tai she was wrecked off Singapore, in pos'n 01-12.05 N, 103-51.07E whilst on voyage from Canton to Colombo with cargo of rice ,in a collision with ore carrier WORLD CARRIER (9884 grt.)of Eastern Tpts Inc.;Monrovia.

    The painting certainly brings back memories of John Masefields poem of “ Dirty British Coaster with a salt caked smokestack plowing up the Channel in the Mad March Days”. JS.

    Hi Mike.
    I used to spend days in Sydney when the tall ships werer in port, got to go on all of them, they must have thought I was part of the crew LoL.
