If Russia has 300 thousand reservists how many troops have they in the standing army? I know in Aus they have many reservists, but not even close to the size of the Army.

According to our news here in Oz they are leaving Russia in droves.
Some young men spoke to media people saying they had no wish to fight or die in war for Russia.

Some demonstrations in many parts of Russia against the idea of conscription.
The chance of a nuclear war is so ridiculous but of course the media will play it for all it is worth.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Although Russians , but just normal People like anyone else, i feel for the poor Young and older ones that are being called up to fight for their Country, it must be very hard on many Families to just see their Bread and Butter being taken away , not knowing if they will ever see them again!

As well as the ones that are demonstrating againt going , there is such a long Sentence awaiting many, i read as nuch as 15 Years ! Shite thats a long time to go inside for refusing to go to War!

Old saying . Old generals never die, just there Privates. The Russian youth need to take a leaf from there own history.

Nicholas II or Nikolai II Alexandrovich Romanov[d] (18 May [O.S. 6 May] 1868 – 17 July 1918), known in the Russian Orthodox Church as Saint Nicholas the Passion-Bearer,[e] was the last Emperor of Russia, King of Congress Poland and Grand Duke of Finland, ruling from 1 November 1894 until his abdication on 15 March 1917. During his reign, Nicholas gave support to the economic and political reforms promoted by his prime ministers, Sergei Witte and Pyotr Stolypin. He advocated modernization based on foreign loans and close ties with France, but resisted giving the new parliament (the Duma) major roles.[1][2] Ultimately, progress was undermined by Nicholas's commitment to autocratic rule,[2][3] strong aristocratic opposition and defeats sustained by the Russian military in the Russo-Japanese War and World War I.[4][5][6] By March 1917, public support for Nicholas had collapsed and he was forced to abdicate the throne, thereby ending the Romanov dynasty's 304-year rule of Russia (1613–1917).

    Let's change the names here

public support for Valadmir Putin would collapse and he was forced to abdicate the the presidency, thereby ending the Putins dynasty's 20?-year rule of Russia (1999-2022). Time Putin met the same fate as the last Tsar a hole in the head.

Hhi Des, it's not just about how many reservist they have but the morale and standard of training, plus the quality of the arms they will be provided with, the war in Ukraine showed
up their shortcomings, the Ukraine forces believe in what they are fighting for, I don't think the Russian conscripts have the same belief ?. Vladimir Putin wants to return to the day's
of the Soviet Union when they really were a force to be reckoned with, today Russia is not as powerful as they would have you believe them to be, they have a staple diet of Propaganda.
I think China is the danger country, they have taken a back seat, watched and learned from Russia's mistakes, Putin and his Generals know that if they were to go Nuclear on any NATO
country, Russia would be TOAST, just my opinion. Cheers John Collier

#47. One only has to take British and Anzac forces , who are volunteers and trained as far as practical to actual battle conditions and the sights they are likely to encounter, and the amounts of people they suffer with trauma , to imagine a bunch of hill billies in the same situation. Western armies or Defence forces as better known are all volunteers in the first instance and professionalism is one of their mottos. The hill billies are cannon fodder to fulfill a lunatics dream. I would point out up until it was abolished in 1963 two million phisically fit men were called up for National Service (conscripts) to serve in the British Armed Forces. National Service was mandatory.
Taking for example the Korean War, although they weren't fighting for their own country they held their own against vast Chineese and North Korean armies.

    Fouro.

#49 Those were different days Fouro , different morals , a respect for country and those in authority, most had been through WW 11 and we still had the instinct to fight . Putin was knee high to a grasshopper then , and if that is where his imagination for mobilisation is coming from is from the past , he is Away off course. He has plenty of generals still apart from those being shot like clay pigeons , they too must be of the old school of thinking and egging him on otherwise if he was rational and getting the right advice from his elders he would have given up the ghost months ago and accepted the jeers like a man .
