Hi Brian. sounds like the same person, very anti establishment. He led the walk off the Hornby Grange in Fremantle during the 66 strike, were we were nearly all arrested by the local police and immigration. We all ended up being black listed from Shaw Savill lines, who we were on charter to at the time. I last saw him in Ely Cardiff about 30 yrs ago, he was having a go at the local councilors. Geoff.

Hi Brian. I know what you mean and i can bet that he was having a go at you about the food and supplies for the crew?. I also bet he would be having a go at the mates as well on working conditions. I only remember his name becuase of the incidents on the Hornby Grange where he was our union rep, but i remember him as Nolan not Logan , maybe he changed his name to get ships? he would have been well known to the shipping companies as a red trouble maker. You could well be right about his name, my memory does not serve me well these days. I do remember though that he to exeption to me because I asked him some questions about his politics, he became very aggressive and threatened to 'have me' next time he saw me ashore. If it hadn't been for the intervention of the cook, can't remember his name, I doubt I would be here now, Musa was a very tough guy, too much for me. There was a story that he went onto the speakers platform and struck James Callaghan, the politician, during a Labour Party Rally. We met all kinds at sea didn't we, Musa was one I could have managed without. Brian.

Sell personally ,at the Gold Coast.leaving Cardiff one evening ,in the locks, had two Pierhead Jumps , ,the son of the Pilot mr. Evans taking us out, and the other deck boy, Philip Northway ,from Grangetown Cardiff.Phil had just come from the School. Good Shipmate.Knew his Stuff! last t[me i saw Phil. Hello Brian I was born in the docks Cardiff I passed out of that sea school and went back for my E D H there and it was like you said I was there in 1956 good days live in Newport now
Ther was a sea school in the west dock Cardiff I was there as a Deck boy then again for my E D H ticket in 1956 and 1959

Hi tsell We used to have a Glan Philips on site here he went to the Readon Smith school in Cardiff, he ended up sailing as Captain on the liners out of Florida, I believe he was on the Love boat of TV fame. His wife who sailed with him died and I think he bought a restaurant over there. Haven't heard from him for a few years now. Cheer Des
