    Default French fishing boats

The French are threatening to block channel ports because they cannot get their way over fishing licences. So here is a plan the UK are paying the French 54 million to catch illegal immigrants.
So how is this for a plan let the fishermen catch the illegals in the rubber ducks while they are in French and UK waters , they get a bonus equivalent to what would be deemed to be the value of a reasonable days fishing catch. The bonus is only paid when these illegals are landed in France, let's face it they would be landing the fish in France anyway. I bet that would reduce the numbers of illegals landing in the UK , also another bonus would be that the RNLI Channel taxi service could stand down.fishing boat.jpg

Pity the the French weren't so belicose in former years and blocked the Channel on D-Day, it would have saved hundreds of British and Allied lives, oh I forgot, they were out fishing in the Bay of Biscay to feed their German guests. Keep planting the trees mon ami, the Germans like marching in the shade, history has a habit of repeating itself

post 1: an added bonus to that idea Lewis would be, the multiple bonuses paid for repeatedly catching the same people, when a fish
is caught it doesn't return, unlike those determined to reach "The land of milk and honey", there'd be a stronger response if they
were coming from England and going to France, we're too soft .

We know what the answer is, send them back, but the thick French cannot see that their own country is being swamped because of their leniency. All the French need to do is wreck the inflatable, smash the engines up, and then sit and see where the supply line for boats and engines comes from, but they cannot help it, they are French

They are probably collaborating with the engine builders to produce bigger and better boats, they are used to collaboration, with the Germans in France and also the Japanese in 1940/41 when the Japanese invaded Vietnam, a leopard cannot change its spots

The French need to tell the likes of the Italians, Maltese , Spanish, Greece etc! to up their game as well. France is just the staging post for the Channel crossing.

They come from here, they come from there, they come from every bloody where.

Tough water control is the only way as we here in Oz discovered.
Stopping the boats and turning them back is the only way.

You have to take a tough stand and be prepared to take some flack from other countries.

Problem with France is not the fishing rights it is the people and the gov in particular.

They arrive in various EU countries and are not welcome so they make their way to France who then try to ship them to UK.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

#7 John it doesn't help that the English Channel is not a large piece of water compared to what the smugglers had to cover to get to OZ.
A different set of circumstances over there for sure.

I agree there with you Victoria, but something has to be done before the UK is flooded with them.
They produce nothing for the nation, but have the hand out for all they can get.

As far as I can ascertain over 1000 licences have been issued by UK Authorities to French fishing operators, yet the news is concentrating on the lack of issue of just 12 licences out of a total of 47 issued by the Channel Islands Authorities, the 1000 are never mentioned by either side. In reality this is NOT about fishing, it is about politics and Macron trying to be Napoleon trying to act tough because of his poor standing in the polls, supported by his ally the Marine Minister a lady whose father was a fisherman and is jumping on the bandwagon as she was/is a relatively unknown but wants to reverse that latter fact.
We have withdrawn hundreds of troops from Afghanistan, are they sitting in barracks or what? perhaps they could be issued with some of the hundreds of fast boats seized from illegal immigrants and patrol our shores, gaining valuable marine experience which will enable them later on to deal with miscreant fishing boats of any nationality
