Yes, but it wasn’t only UCL that lashed silver over the wall; look no further than P S N C, Cunard and C P R to name only a few.
Oh at last someone who opens the Box on other Companies as well, noT only the poor old UCL!

Cyril the name killen was much revererd in my grannies stret in shields during the war ......he was an ordinary working class shields lad who managed to fly a spitfire .....he had done sorties that day and was in his plane on the ground when german bombers hit the airfield and got his plane while he was refuelling ......my gran was a dear friend of his mum ....as i dont think killen perhaps is a common name ....was he any relation to you.....regards cappy

The chest specialist I see at hospital is Dr. Killen. Lovely guy, but I often wonder if his name gets mis spelled on occasion.

I was on mainly tankers in the 50s and we must have sent more crude oil and wax into the sea that a ship full of crude, when we cleaned tanks it went straight over the stern, and that was not only at sea put in Swansea Bay. My last ship! the Ferry South Steyne in Sydney harbour in 2000 there were two Italian cruse ships there one night they let go all their sewage into the Harbour , what a stink both nose wise and fine wise.

On the NZSC Paparoa we were allowed to bring Australian meat on board to eat but not the sausages.
But they were not named mystery bags for nothing.
All the Lamb and Beef we loaded was good eating.
