The ones before the Britannia pub were put there at the time of the International Garden Festival (1984).
I'm assuming they were Liverpool Shipping companies ???

Quite often I have to drive along Otterspool Promenade (Liverpool) getting from site to site in my job. It has been great to see a miniature version of a blue star funnel having pride of place at the side of the road for years. However yesterday it was there no more. Liverpool 08 has taken hold and the whole promenade is getting redeveloped. Its a pity, but I don't know if it has been moved, is to return, scrapped etc. If I had known I would have had it for my garden. What a centrepiece! Fraser, have sent you a photo of it from a couple of months back, in a state of disrepair. Russ SteadmanSee refurbished 17/12/08
The brilliant new photo of the Refurbished BSL funnel states that it is on Otterspool Promenade, it is actually adjacent to Riverside Drive - Otterspool Prom is about 2 miles away. This is only to aid those who wish to find it. John Cullen

QUOTE by Lewis 'The Bibby Funnel was Nipple Pink with a Black top'
I suppose nipples can come in several hues,Lewis, but the official Bibby nomenclature of the main funnel colour was Salmon Pink !
