It was just that i had thought the CRS10 etc had the info listed on them!

Yes that is my Discharge book No. My brother Roy only had an adopted son who we lost touch with so I never got his No.

PS Just went back to John's post 32 and for the life of me can't see anything wrong with it.
Here in Melbourne we have the Shrine of Remembrance.
There is a section full of medals of all manner from many different sources.
The script that goes with it tells the viewer that they have all been donated, some by men of the MN, so that future generations will know of them.
My grandfather was a ships engineer, torpedoed in WW1 spending 4 days on a life raft before being rescued.
He never bothered to collect his medals, just happy to have survived he told me.
