I wish I had kept a copy at the time but was that incensed at the time by the total way it was taken out of context that I would have cheerfully consigned the whole establishment to the deep. If I remember it was the headlines that particular day.? JS
Hi John. I can only research the Aberdeen Journal from the seventeen hundreds to nineteen hundred. I see Marian has found what you were looking for. I can get snippets off the internet. These two are from a Torry lad I knew of, he died a few years ago. He held yourself and crew in high esteem, he and another chap decided to jump into the sea from a great height rather than fry.

    Hi Marian
I have posted what i see as the full Monty?? Is there more ??
    Cheers

PS By the way Marian, as i dont Pay for that Newspaper Archive any longer, i stopped as i found that i can actually see the First Report pages on Searching, i then Capture that page with the aid of the Screen Capture Tool, and save it.
This way unless one wants to delve deeper into a Publication, you can just then save that Screen Grab. LOL
Have you tried that ?? Cheating i know !!

That’s the one marian thanks. Don’t be talked in by the negative way it has been written. Cheers there were no seamen mentioned in any fault whatsoever and everything appertaining to the vessel itself was nothing unusual, it complied with the regulations in place at the time. And most stand by vessels at the time were of the same caliber. The articles have been written in such a negative way as to not show the situation and the facts as they were. They have been written mainly by dick heads who have no idea of what they are talking about and only interested in writing stories to satisfy the general public. When I saw the headline Skipper did not check ship before sailed , I threw the paper away together with whatever slight regard I may of had for the press. I will try and copy off what you have sent and add it to the file I already have for future generations, maybe it may make sure of the true story after all of us are gone , and not have people believing all that they read in newspapers as kosher. Cheers JS.

John, when did the media ever put the truth first?
Shock and awe is the way they manage it.

But the photo of you is not at all bad, better looking than expected.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

My hair turned white shortly after . The media had my age as 62 58 , I was 51. They never ever got it right , if they had ever asked when I was speaking to them very early on , I would of told them I was 36. JS

I hadn't seen the replies to my original post until my cousin Rob Will alerted me. I just want to record my thanks to all who responded to my query. It is such a good example of how well forums like this can help to break through research barriers. Your contributions have helped to resolve a long-standing puzzle regarding Ogilvie/John Will's identity and eventual demise. Thank you!
