As said above though the Guildhall Library will have records of Voyage Record Cards which will at least give you the Ports of call.
Cheers
Just as a feint possibility where were you Born and what is your DOB.
There may be some Records but i need that info to start a search!

Re: Discharge Book and Voyage details
Michael, not many of us on here have used our Dis A for 40/50 years or more
Re: Discharge Book and Voyage details
Well have looked in case, but your name is not in the NA Database, so you were then still at Sea after 72.
So next thing is to try and contact the People i have mentioned in my post, for Seaman Serving after 72 ??
Cheers
Re: Discharge Book and Voyage details
Just received this now!
Dear Mr Vernon,
Thank you for your email.
The Registry of Shipping and Seamen keep some records of sea service from 1972 onwards.
However these records are kept offsite in secure storage which is not yet accessible to us due to Covid restrictions.
If you would like to send us your query we will research it as soon as we can, but please be aware that this may take some time.
With kind regards,
Trish

Re: Discharge Book and Voyage details
It seems that many British Shipping records were purchased/transferred to the University of Newfoundland - who clearly appreciate the value - more so than the British Shipping Registrar who permitted them to be transferred seemed to. (I say this as a former Registrar of British Shipping for the Guernsey flag. ) I asked if the Newfoundland Uni had info on my first ship in 1968 and they have provided me with a copy of the Ships logbook covering the period I was on board. It has given me a full list of manes of those on board together with records of the various loggings etc for that period. It was not cheap but was well worth it to me. I was in contact with :

After 1973 up until 1999, the Registrar General of Shipping & Seamen was not required by legislation to keep these records.

Records held in Newfoundland cover the following information and not any records of individuals sea service:
Log Books and Crew Agreements 1951 to 1976
A 10% sample of all logbooks from the above period are held at the National Archive, in classification BT 99 Agreements and Crew Lists, Series 11. 80% of the records are now held at the Maritime History Archive, Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, A1C 5S7. The remaining 10% of these logbooks and crew agreements are kept at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London, SE10 9NF. This last address keeps the years ending in "5", i.e. 1955, 1965, 1975.
