#17 With all the Orders listed although the warrants are signed on the opening by the Queen as the present Sovereign , they are finalised at the end “ by the Sovereigns Order , Prince Philip, Grand Master” my mistake no mention of the Duke of Edinburgh. Perhaps if Cappy reads this and has means of seeing his grandfathers warrant , which was before Prince Philip held that title he can say who signed his warrant. Once again my error the Duke of Edinburgh doesn’t enter the equation , best to check before one opens the mouth , we assume too much sometimes .Cheers JS

Subsequent History 1963 Sold to Hibiscus Ltd,London.Renamed BERMUDA HIBISCUS.
1965 Sold on to Chinese interests.Registered Liberia.Renamed PING AN
Fate. 24/11/65. Wrecked 5nm North of Hook of Holland.Broken Up.
    Report from Lloyds List.
'After leaving Rotterdam on 21st.Nov. 1965 for engine trials in the North Sea,the Ping AN anchored off Hook of Holland for engine repairs and to await her next orders. However, both anchor chains broke ,and owing to a defective engine she was blown ashore by a fierce storm onto a beach between Terheiden and Kijkduin on Nov.24th. 27 of her crew were taken off by The Hook lifeboat leaving 21 on board who were later rescued by the Terheiden lifeboat.
During continuing stormy weather the wrecked Ping An was driven a further 30 metres up the beach .Declared a constructive total loss she was broken up 'as lies' where she grounded, by local shipbreakers.'

An all too often sad end for many a once fine British vessel after being sold on.
