there was a film made in gibralta with lawrence harvey playing the famous buster crabb, the royal navy diver, and the italian mob with their mini submarines from a base in La Linea spain, very good as well. i dont think michael cain was in though as he tangled with the italian mob whilst on a job,

Not much of a contribution, but Dock Street could be the Merchant Navy Pool, Dock Street, London E1 where my uncle signed on his last ship.

You can also track some of the ship movements and Convoys of at least one of those ships (clan MacFadyen is there, haven’t checked for them all) Tony Cooper - ship movements

MY Grandfather died in 1982. He had lost the hearing in one ear and my brother remembers him saying that it was in a diving accident trying to repair a damaged ship.

I think you may be right, I retrieved his papers from storage today and there is a stamp in one of his discharge books with 'M.M. Office Dock Street' and the date 14 Apr 1943. So I assume it must be something to do with him being re-registered with the Merchant Navy after his time away.

    Thanks

I wonder if you could possibly help, i am looking for explanations on the following that is on a Seamans CRS10 Document .
Would really appreciate it if you can.
      Thank you in advance

Granted Exit Permit P458135 (See RS 1 [or I?] for D/15/59872)

      Cancellation A/S 5/4/43 / Unclaimed SS [or 55?] 19/10
      Action sheet written 15/1/42
      JY 05 26 17 D

      53/BS 35963 14.4.43
54 (Lon [or Con?]) Dock St. 8/4/43 D

Above is all gibberish to me so far?? LOL
    • Dates: LOOKS LIKE ITS AROUND 1943

I have now got hold of his papers and have found that BS 35963 is his B.S.I.C. serial number, but what that means I have no idea. I have also discovered that JY 05 26 17 D is his National Insurance Number, and someone else pointed out that Dock Street referred to the M.M. Office in Dock Street, London and there is a stamp from there in his discharge book of around that date.

    Thanks
