    Yes we are supposed to be living longer so an aging population means more pensioners. Also as large families are not the norm these days this is also a problem. This means less tax revenue as not as many in the work place. Less tax revenue means less money going into the pot. Only ways out of the problem we need people to have bigger families and to swell the work force and generate more taxable revenue . Companies pay more taxes to the exchequer or else we accept more immigration.

    One thing though what happens to money paid in who die before reaching pensionable age????

    Well Lewis one hopes to live long enough to get some of it back in pensions.
    But in the democracy we live in all the money goes into one big pot from which they pay out.
    Long gone the days when monies were put aside into various departments, now all consolidated revenue.
    But as to those who pop off a bit early, bit like the communist system of paying in what you can and taking out only what you need.
