Terry i dont know how many merchant seamen there were in say the 50s and 60s all paying weekly dues ....there was probably less than 20 union disputes per week even if that... The rest went on big salaries sitting in fancy offices in london for the big shots .......the other point about this scandle what if you did have a prob and you were abroard who did you see..... Thousands of pounds being hived away ...which no one ever saw .....and what proportion of seaman were out the country at any given time ...the nus was a disgrace .....slater president .....a collier man never been deep sea certain old men on the tyne would not have him on there vessel this is fact it was a complete farce .....the was a vessel cape wrath i believe or one cape boat up the key from us in oz went on strike and would not turn to ...an army of coppers took half of them away ....where was the union ...or any back up from the famously powerful oz unions ....none ...it was a con and a waste of seamans money r683532

Then the strike of 66 was funded by the union, all the money gone.
The two jags got into parliament, did bugger all for anyone.

some interesting news fromthe guy looking to get mcluskys jobas he retires next month .....why has unite unions members money been raised from spending 7 million pounds to 98 million pounds to buid a hotel for labour party conferences ....and the cost is still rising ...coyne who is hoping to be elected to mcluskys job states why is all this money being used in political bolstering ........the mind boggles at what they do with members union dues ....in a time of pandemic .....same old story ....pay themselves a fortune .....fancy offices ....ivory towers ....while the members benefits zilch ...inverted communism....but never in the open ....
