S.S. Manhattan 1866

The Manhattan was built by Palmers Shipbuilding in 1866 for the Guion Line. She underwent a number of name changes and owners ending up with the Spanish Government where she was renamed the Solis. The period that I am interested in is that period that followed her return to Liverpool in 1885 when she was again renamed the City of Lincoln. After that, she was owned by Alex Cassels (1888) London, and then William HR Ross Liverpool 1893 and then William Samson Buenos Ayres, Liverpool 1893. I know she was wrecked on 15 August 1902 in Table Bay. What I am trying to establish is the shipping lines relevant to the last period of her life. Under what house flag and line did she sail. The name of Samson I cannot locate on the web with any relevance to shipping, nor in fact, could I find anything on Alex Cassel or William Ross. I would appreciate any assistance that can be rendered.

Rename as you say City of Lincoln that was in 1881 and owned by Thistle Line
then again as same name for Cassels London

In 1875 she was also renamed Massachusetts for Warren Line.

Renamed Solis for Spanish Owners ?? Not sure of the Company

Then wrecked off Cape Town.
