Yeah i guess it must be an id number as his discharge number is listed further up the page. It is lovely to see him as a young man we only have photos of him as an older man. Although you'll notice his nose is a little bent his father punched him in the face as a boy, it gives him a rather distingushing feature which was mentioned on other documents later. I'll try and do a search for it thank you on the archives.

I've not heard that song before I like it though. The convoys were so important to the war effort, the danger these men faced though that served on them I can't even imagine.

the song is quite emotional if you refer to Ja tendrai ....the english words are like gentle thoughts ....perhaps a wee scot could put the english words on as i do not have the knowledge to do this ,,,regards cappy
