Hoping that someone might be able to help re the above.

The ships official number was 63027 and she was registered in South Shields. It seems she went ashore at Pigeon Island, Cabrita Point, near Gibraltar (possibly Marbella area?) the following month, and was wrecked.

I've seen the newspaper clippings for its demise etc.

Now to my question.... Does anyone have access to the ship's crew list for 1879? I'm particularily interested in trying to identify a George Collier, who lost his life 08/11/1879.

If one decided to order from here, what sort of detail will it hold?

Typically, it will be a document of at least 3 pages, usually more, listing the names of the crew, date or year of birth, place of birth, name of previous ship and the year of serving in that (former) vessel, date of joining the current vessel and in what capacity. As there is no log shown for 1879 you won't find any reference to incidents or events which occurred on board.

On the plus side, the service from Canada is excellent and they'll send the document via email in good quality reproduction.

Most crew lists had the date of engagement and the date of discharge. so possibly to keep the paperwork down the date off discharge would possibly be VNC. JS.

With the Crew lists that i got from them some time back on Mine
There is quite a good info pack with them, besides the Crew it also hold Ships Logs etc which is very interesting reading.
Will have all Crew for a Particular Year you ask for , each Persons name age Rating, Place of Residence when signing on and a few other things so well worth the effort of getting them
