Re: I cant see this working for the flight industry
My wife booked her trip to Australia in September 2019. As i wasn't going she booked business class for the first time ever. She was due to fly on 22nd mMay but cancelled herself from fear of catching infection. She has just got her refund - minus 25% charge for travel agency"fees", and feels lucky to get anything. Still waiting for travel insurance refund.
Seems many thousands of people will lose their money and it's definitely wrong!!!!!

Re: I cant see this working for the flight industry
We have been offered a credit to use before August 15 by Virgin Australia.
Fine but they are in administration now, not flying and may not be by then.
But QUANTAS say they will resume all domestic and some international flights soon.
No empty seats, masks for all and rubber gloves for the crew.

Re: I cant see this working for the flight industry
John
There are Dozens of Empty Seats on QANTAS Flights but sadly they are not available due to the Distancing Rules in place. Wont mention the unmentionable but you know what i mean. Have seen a Plan of the new Seating and it is rather amazing that they will be flying with such few passengers, will take a hit in their Pockets for a while ,till things get back to normal??
Cheers

Re: I cant see this working for the flight industry
Very true just now Vernon, but by June 1 they intend to begin spreading their wings.
One report they are currently charging $1300 return economy Melbourne to Sydney.
But things must be on the move as Flight center is to start reopening shops next week.

Re: I cant see this working for the flight industry
Victoria, you need to do what I did, read the legislation from cover to cover.
By doing this we were able to continue life as if nothing was going on.
We were told we could go for shopping for food and things we need, no mention of how often or how far we could go for them.
Same with exercise, no time or distance limit posted so we went about 50 Klm from home to walk along the sea front for the sea air, good for the lungs the medicos said.
Only challenged once by the police, but when we told the we were out for exercise they said fine, enjoy the day.

NSW relies on tax from gambling, soooo what is opening from Monday, Clubs, up to 50 people, Star Casino up to 500 members, they are desperate to make hay.

That's not as bad as Queensland, where if you area millionaire footballer you can spread the virus willy nilly, but honest workers are confined to 50k. Don't worry, we can have our say when we have elections in October, unless she does a Trump and postpones them.
