    Don't ever remember having to quote my Dis A number (or NHI number) when signing on or off, signing on, you presented your book, signing off it was handed to you. Only time I remember quoting my Dis A number was in Hull Shipping Federation, when on the one occasion my father was at home the same time as myself when our leaves overlapped, and collecting our stand-by pay, as he and I had the same name.

    Replacement Books are only issued to current serving Seaman, if you are not then you cannot get one . You must be Employed by some Shipping Company or have a letter to the effect that they are going to Employ you.
    Cheers

    In addition if you are able to get a Replacement Book, it will just be a Blank page one ,as past Voyages are not Re Entered into the new Book. Thats what i have been told.

    [QUOTE=Doc Vernon;347339]Hello JD
    ( Your Quote) Have sent an e mail asking for some more info regarding ships I was on and dates

    Please dont hold your breath on any replies as yet from the NA, and also i doubt very much if they will tell you much at all. It will if anything just tell you to apply for your CRS10 and that i have given you the Link to. Here it is again

    When Link Opened Click on Request Copy

    https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ls/r/C10990525

    At present though they are closed for any Payment Research,so will have to wait till all back to normal
    Cheers

    NB When you do apply for CRS10 make sure you quote your Seamans Pouch Ref Number as shown on the NA Site
    And any other info you may have like Ships you were on and dates if possible this helps them to find your Docs easier

    You already have this
    https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ils/r/C8581828

    As my discharge book R415805 was stolen in 1952 just before I moved to New Zealand I went to National Archives, Kew when I was over in the UK four years ago. I had been there two times before and refused entrance to the reading room where you can get your information but did not have enough proof of identity. So be sure that you have enough proof, like Passport, Power accounts, Local body accounts and the like. Good luck with that.
