Port Numbers
I'm looking at my Great Grandfathers Masters and Mates index and am having trouble with port numbers where he signed off like 96 or 24 one of which is Swansea I think. Where can I find a list. These numbers were used in the 1880's and possibly much later so the key must be held somewhere.
Thanks for your help.
Alan.

Re: Port Numbers
Any guess if Barbados ( Port of Bridgetown ? ) qualified as a colonial port in the West Indies and had any associated number ?
