    Thank you very much indeed for your kind assistance in this matter.


    My uncle's full name was Alan Douglas Wood.


    He was born in 1910, a Glaswegian, and had a career in the MN, rising to the rank of captain, until during WW2 he was seconded into the RNVR where he acted on D Day to ferry fuel to the ports in Normandy before the pipelines became operational.
