Falklands "conflict"
Hope you can provide me with some infomation regarding the British Merchant Ships involved in the Falklands"conflict" and it's aftermath(including tugs etc)I have details of some but I know there were some United Towing vessels down there as well.I have details of the following-
QE2,Canberra,Atlantic Conveyor,Tidespring,Stromness,Sir Galahad and Sir Tristram. As usual(not to denigrate the RN's efforts)Little seems to have been reported with regards to the MN's involvment.Friend of mine(ex RN PO)is researching the subject and hes roped me in because of my MN experience. At the time I was on a Liberian registered tanker. Many thanks in advance,Alan Rae

What aboutthe Sealink Ferry St George , that was there too , the harwick to Hook of Holland run , I think some of the guys got very well reimbursed for that one .
In 1970 I was in Lobito ( Angola ) and an exploration vessel with a seismic tail 3 miles long was there and at that time there was Oil found of the Falklands and South Georgia , in small pockets .They were crossing over to Angola to use as a base station rather tha during the conbflict , they would have known about it ? . Dennis Thatcher as Chairman of Burma Castrol certainly would be aware of it .
I sometimes think too many have died in the pursuit of Oil and wondered if this was in that list too ?

Hi Rob,I think you are referring to the ST.EDMUND,and not the ST.GEORGE.
Please refer to DeepSea's link in Post#2- referring to the STUFT(Ships Taken Up from Trade)-lovely acronym is that!
