I have Nathaniel's number it is 435861 . Found BT113 and BT114 on FMP can't down load images as too big for this site but here are the related transcripts. There are a lot of numbers and things I can't make head or tails of. I printed from National Archives a list of abbreviations ( numbers and letters) but still none the wiser!!
Will continue looking for Joseph Smith's number.

Joseph Smith's number is either 205905 or S188976 . I have BT112 and BT114 but can't find a BT113 to confirm which of the two numbers it might be?? see attached transcripts

Have looked at all PDF and also the Images online at FMP like you cannot be certain at this time ,BT113 Mmmmm! Will have to search .

Thanks for helping Doc Vernon, I am trying to see if they knew each other from being on same ship and whether Joseph married Elizabeth Eliza because Nathaniel died(??) and being the only male in household it would have been hard for his mother whom was a widow and his sister to survive in Victorian England or did Joseph fall for Elizabeth and asked to be married, as a 20 year difference in age. Mind you that was probably common in Victorian times.
Just trying to find connection and clarification as to whether Nathaniel lived or died?

Yes it is hard as al those PDF Files although good seem not to mention Ships Off Numbers or otherwise! If they did have Numbers we could then of course match up

Yes looked at FreeBMD and as his birth date is 1828 this is before their start date for births which is 1837. Have printed out deaths under this name that they listed between 1851 and 1861 also 1862 to 1900. Just a process of going through the list and comparing things on FMP and Ancestry. Tried Familysearch but their results were quite vague no real detail. Will just have to go through list slowly. From Nathaniel's BT113 it lists him as going to sea as a boy, 1845 that would have made him 17 approx.

Thanks for trying to help with confusing "Smith" family Keith! Yes I have that print out it was one of the first ones I found. From there I got Joseph and Elizabeth Eliza marriage cert. It was from this that I found he was a widower and Seaman plus her maiden name was also Smith. Found the 1851 census for her family, her father was already dead as mother was listed as widow and her older brother was listed as Mariner. From there went searching to find a connection between Joseph whom was 20 years+ older than Elizabeth Eliza and her brother Nathaniel. As how did a man born in Hull meet a woman born in London?? I have also found some British Royal Navy Allotment Declarations 1795-1852 on FMP which I don't know if it is my Joseph Smith but it could relate to his first marriage and wife. It lists pay book number 1662 for Able seaman on the San Josef 1843 with one listing his marriage to wife Elizabeth 9 Nov 1830, marriage place Stoke Church, Devonport National Archive reference ADM 27/83. There is also one for Able seaman Joseph Smith 1850 on vessel Impregnable pay book number 101 wife Elizabeth with same marriage date, National Archive number ADM27/111 . Is this so that the man's money was given ( some I presume) to his wife/family ?? Whether this relates to the Joseph Smith I have I don't know but exploring all avenues!!
