Yes and very nice it is to, we can get some excellent british cheeses out here and they are proving popular even with the locals well I say British and Irish. Makes me smile sometimes when we have french friends in for dinner. They are curious about were the likes of Cheshire , Chedar and especially Stilton come from lol.Greedy buggers are even getting the hang of Carrs water biscuits as well.Quote:

When I was visiting my brother in Hopkinsville Kty I walked the dog every night. The local police started to know me . On got friendly and had to look in the trunk of his black/white . I could not believe the arms he had in there. No Tank but everything else I'm sure

I listened to one of the Rednecks trying to justify Automatic ( sub - machine guns ) for deer hunting , to get a license here , the police contact your GP to check your sanity / state of mind . anyone who wants a sub machine gun to shoot deer surely cannot pass the sanity test
After the firearms comes the machetes, which can do a lot of damage. It used to be the law of years ago you couldn't carry a blade over 6 inches. Most seamen carried knives it was part of their tools of trade.the old green river being the favourite which was about 6 inches, so think it came within the regulations. Firearms on ships I have seen but were more in line of hand guns and pump action shot guns. Never liked. If you point a firearm at someone you have to be prepared to use it. I think it was BOT to have on board British ships 2 pair of handcuffs and a straight jacket, they always seemed to be hanging up in the mates wardrobe, although the only thing hanging up in the mates wardrobe on a ship discussed yesterday were half a dozen optics. A small bar and a stool and a bar light. The former occupant not being there when I joined or more than likely would have been greeted with the peace sign and peace be with you. Those who traded up to Murmansk on the BISCO charters a good buy at the international shop were fur hats and shot guns. When I fist came to Canada. We lived in Prince Rupert.
That is up in the north west coast.
I had a 30-06 rifle that I carried in my truck on a gun rack.
It was visible to all who saw my truck.
Back then it was normal.
Always carried it when I went river fishing.
Several times I was happy to have it with me when seeing a Grizzly.
No restrictions back then.
Recall carrying it down the street to the gun shop.
No one took a slight bit of notice.
Don't think I would want to do it these days.
