    I think this mat be him,but not 100%



    The Ship for that Number was the
    STRATHALLAN 166371 London, 1938, Steam
    So this may be a start!

    Career 23.09.1937: Launched by the Countess of Cromer, wife of a P&O Director. 10.03.1938: Delivered without official trials as Strathallan for The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company. 18.03.1938: Maiden voyage London/Brisbane. 24.06.1938: Arrived in London after her maiden voyage and spent the summer months cruising. 04.02.1940: Requisitioned by the Ministry of Shipping (later Ministry of War Transport) for service as a troop transport. 01.11.1942: Took part in Operation Torch - the first Algerian landings in the North African campaign. 12.12.1942: Sailed from the Clyde on her second trip to Algeria, as commodore vessel of a convoy bound for Oran. She was carrying 4,000 British and US troops and 250 Queen Alexandra’s nurses

    I find it very odd that he is not to be found on the NA Records!
    But there I am sure is a reason,i just cannot fathom it out yet!

    yeah thats definatly my grandad and my nana now to find out whitch aunt made the tree lol its a big family but narrowed it down to 3 aunts { 3 hawkins sisters married 3 gibson brothers my dad was a gibson} im really exited trying to work this out its been on my mind for years now and ive never been closer n that is all down to you n others on this page ill be raising a whiskey tonight in thanks to you.

    one of my aunts said my grandad went awol once but went back do you think they would be a record of this?

    Lat way of trying to find him is by going to Kew (that would be free) or requesting information to this Series for a fee of 8GBP
    This should the tell you for sure??
