    Default Cammell Lairds Thesis Research

Hi! I am looking for workers of Cammell Lairds/dockers 1960s-1993 to interview about the decline of the shipyard and the surrounding Birkenhead area.
If anybody is available to interview about this it would greatly appreciated!

Not too sure but believe the Hollande 1 was built there ,and was lost on passage to Plymouth or Portsmouth in 1913. Was recovered off the bottom in the 80"s and is now in a museum in Portsmouth or nearby. The Hollande 1 was the RNs first commissioned submarine. If you are doing a history of the yard, may be of interest to some of your viewers or readers. Regards. JWS.

I actually sailed with the son of the Commander of HMS Thunderbolt she was the renamed HMS Thesis. He was the son of Bernard Crouch. Peter Crouch.
Peter had an eventful time as second mate when he was on a Bluey arrested in China for so called spying. I think he did two years in jail beforehe was released. He was master when I sailed with him, a real character.
