Do you have any superstition?
I know some superstitions at sea in some countries. 9a10590b6150035a483ff19eafe05c6c52527090.gif
In China, you cannot say "turn over" or something like that when you eating fish, otherwise it seems like the ship will be capsized.

In US, you should never ever bring anything about banana on the ships. Such as never to put on Banana Republic clothing, never to use Banana Boat sunscreen and never to eat banana at the breakfast. No banana on board is a rule in the LA.....
So, why there are many superstitions and do you believe in that?

Re: Do you have any superstition?
On a BP ship going from Bahrhein to Sydney the ship vibrated most of the way. After a couple of days at sea the 1st officer asked the chief cook is there any oxtail soup onboard, the oxtail we had onboard was ditched overboard and within hours the vibration had stopped. I have heard of this before and I am still unsure if there is a connection...

Re: Do you have any superstition?
Some say that the ancient Caribbean has to ship with full speed sailing before the banana rotten so they had no time to fishing So they cannot fishing if they ship banana
Another argument is that the boat will sink if they ships banana.
Because it looks like that if it the banana-ship did not arrive in time, the buyer thought the ship was wrecked.
There is also a saying that there will be plague if banana on the ship

Perhaps some thought that the yellow 'Q' flag was a plague flag, when in fact it means 'I request Free Pratigue'
I understand that bananas were very popular with some crew sections on UCL, either bent or straight (the banana that is!)

Re: Do you have any superstition?
Hi Frank.
My wife is psychic though she wouldn't ell anyone that, you wouldn't believe the things she has experienced, example she was reading a book and suddenly she was in a plane comforting a woman in the seat beside her they were flying over the rooftops of a big city the plane was vibrating badly and crashed, next day on the TV a plane had gone down in Paris. She was washing dishes one day when we lived in NZ and she saw her sister's car skidding on a bridge towards the river, she grabbed the wheel and turned it. About half-an-hour later her sister rang up telling her that she had nearly gone into the river when her car had skidded.
These are only a couple of things she has had heaps. Only me and the kids know about them.
cheers Des

Never go into a pub looking for someone and come out without having a drink. Is definite bad luck. JWS.
