    Default New York harbour

I cannot remember what pier we used to berth at, when I was on the Andania 1962/63. And when I was on the Alaunia as AB/Lampy/Bosun 1968/69. My old memory isn't what it used to be.

Only ever tied up at 92 or 93 on the Big Ships. There is a member on this site Eugene, Stuart Henderson, who was on most of Cunards cargo ships who would be able to answer your queery. Why not send him a private message. He lives in France.

    Hi Eugene.
New York was the one port I would like to have visited, I could have cut out a few like Kuwait or Abadan, went down to join the Queen Mary but didn't go the accommodation, should have suffered it for one trip.
    Cheers Des

    Hi Gene,
I was on the Cunard in the 50s and 60s , Old Franconia, Carinthia , Media and Parthia and always tied up at Pier 91, the Queens at Pier 90 through the shed and opposite the Market Diner, the Bar Tender then was also called Eugene or just Gene.
Cadillac Kates car always parked outside.
    Cheers
    Brian

    Eugene ,
get the video of the "Liverpool Cunard Yanks". I have just watched it again this afternoon for the dozenth time.
The Cunard ships tied up at the bottom of W52nd Street at Pier 91 and 92.
Very interesting video of the 50s and 60s They take four Liverpool ex Cunard lads back to New York Shows the old days in the 50s of Liverpool with all the bomb damage from the Blitz to the New York glitz. The Market Diner in 2007 and in the old days. It is now a Strip Joint. I was at Pier 91 in 2008 on QE2,
A lot of good memories in that Video of the ships and the men and of New York and Liverpool.
    Cheers
    Brian
