Any information about my father?

My late father, Michael Ian Walder was in the merchant navy in the early 1960's. He came from Gosport. I have a photo with WALDER MI R728584.

How can I find out which ships he worked on? And whether there is anyone who remembers him?

That number is his Discharge Book Number.. R728584
If you have any other information such as Date of Birth etc and where born etc. that is always a big help.

His Seaman's Pouch should be held at Kew in piece BT 372/2294/176 - R728584 WALDER M I 16/07/1943 GOSPORT | The National Archives
He should have a service record at Kew called a CRS 10, it depends when he left the service though to point you towards the correct file.
