Any Information about my Grandfather
I registered on the site as I am trying to find information about my grandfather, Francis (aka Frank) Douglas, who I believe served on Cunard's Queen Mary, many years ago. I know his date of Birth (12/02/1912) and his date of death (15/08/1954). On his death certificate it says his occupation was merchant seaman. It is my 50th birthday this year and my daughters 18th also, and we are planning a trip to New York, primarily to visit his final resting place in St.John's cemetary NY. We also know his last known address as 45-15, 40th Street, Long Island City, New York. Any help or pointers as to where we can find information about his service in the merchant navy would be appreciated. Thank you, Mark Douglas.

Re: Any Information about my Grandfather
Hello and welcome,
Although the file shown above by Dave has a slight difference in his dob I am 90% sure it is him.
I am afraid he doesn't have anymore personal records available online but that does not mean he doesn't have any at all. His CRS 10 (service record from Jan, 1941 until the date he left the service) should be held at The National Archives Kew in piece
BT 382/496 - file best obtained by visit to Kew or via researcher as difficult and expensive to obtain online.
For information, I think he may have served in QUEEN ELIZABETH certainly from 1943 - 1945.
Regards
Hugh
