On British naval ships we have HMS.
On Argentinian naval ships we have ARA.
What does the ARA stand for please.?

AT a guess would say the first A stands for Argentina.. my Spanish has its limits , mostly involving other things. Their police forces were known as the marineros who were Dockland police, and the others that dressed like SS troopers were called vigilantes. The R could be Republica or similar , and the other A maybe something nautical in Spanish. There will be people of spanish origin who will know hopefully. JS. Just seen #2. Sounds about right. JS
