I am sure that others here may find more in time

That Dis A No would have been issued in 1954, which would make him 23 when he first joined the MN

This is my dad.....What do I know? He told us he went down on three ships....He was in Royal Navy and Merchant Navy ...He was damaged by the war and took his own life in 1986....because of loneliness, marriage breakup and depression. He was a rascal but deep down a good man....I will try to find out more from my two brothers and post what I find out....I'm very grateful to the efforts already that have replied to my posts....He certainly worked from Liverpool with Everard...Thank you, Bob

Re: Dad was in Arctic Convoys
It looks like he could possibly have been aboard those three ships at the time they were lost so no wonder he was affected after having a hard war.
He could have served in the MN either before or after the war but I would suggest it was after.
Treat his RN records separately from the MN records.
If you do not already have it you should obtain his military service records from the Ministry of Defence. Follow the process detailed in this link: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/request-...vice-personnel
Cost £30.
For MN service you need to obtain his CRS 10 from the National Archives in Kew. The file, if it has survived, should be held in piece BT 382/2020
Best viewed by visit to Kew or via a researcher. Hope that helps.

Hugh

You need to start with the knowns then take it from there. I know you are trying to help but guess work can be expensive and that link is only relevant if he served in Normandy in 1944 or beyond.

Hugh
Thank you Hugh
Sorry if I have caused any confusion here will try harder in the future!
I take all info given to me on Board Hugh!
