Re: Seaman's photo
#25, Hi Julie, found William under "crew lists" on Ancestry, to be fair I almost always search "All Categories" first, then "All Results" then whittle it down from there. It is time consuming but, it means no stone is left unturned! Presume you have his parents names....

Name: William Wilson
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 29 Jan 1881
Birth Place: Belfast, Antrim, Ireland

Re: Seaman's photo
#34 Shaun the Name Dunbarnmoor caught my eye. Do you know if she was one of Sir Walter Runcimans ships, they all finished in Moor. I have been through my book of British tramps Over 500 pages) but can find no reference to the name. The book however does cover more of the losses during the second world war, I thought I knew all the names of these ships so would be interesting to know if was the same company, who I worked for, for eleven years in my younger days. If the same company they kept Books of rememberance in the vestibule of their office in Pilgrim street Newcastle on Tyne, and they contained all the names of those lost on their ships and covered both world wars I believe. They moved up to Glasgow to Anchor line offices in the mid sixties and assume they took these books with them. I will keep scouring my book of British Tramps by I.G.Stewart especially in the small print, but will be interested to see if is the same company. Best Regards and hope you have future successes in your search of the past. Regards JS

Re: Seaman's photo
Ditto to that Joe and Ivan, I think we all remember our own lost relatives during the two minutes silence, for me remembrance
day is for all of the people who died including the civilians who died in the blitz etc as they were all up against the same enemy.
