Dont think the Liverpool splice was accepted all those years ago on the Aussie coast. The old wires of 12, 24 and 37 wires to a strand would also be hard to find today. Most wires that are made are for speciality jobs, although think the old anchor wires of rigs were still of the old type and 37 wires to a strand but these were big 37 mm wires, and believe they even measure the wires different now. These anchor wires are attached to anchor cable and on the end is a 22 ton anchor. But that's a different subject. Cheers JS
