Re: Lifeboat in antarctic.
Thanks Charlie,
here are some interesting stories on there, I was surprised to see this thread also on GOOGLE.
.
Hi Vernon.
When you go on these expeditions all the Antarctic clothing is provided and yours to keep afterwards.
The Temperature got as low Minus 70 at times but the gear keeps you warm. A wonderful experience.
Cheers

I bet that plays havoc with the airline baggage allowance, or do you wear it when checking in

Re: Lifeboat in antarctic.
Wear it Ivan, and take it off when on board and in an empty bag for the overhead Locker.

Hello Brian
Pete and I were in Antarctica mid February- mid- March 2009. Now you mention it we did see someone rowing a whaler. Is it him ? Surely not. Too far from Bolton............
best wishes

Re: Lifeboat in antarctic.
hello Brian
SS ANDREA. Ushaia, Antarctica, South Georgia,( where Pete did the last leg of the 'Shackleton Walk'. Did you? ) Falklands, then up the Argentinian coast to Buenos Aires - where SS ANDREA was impounded ! Now floats as SS SERENISSIMA.
Fabulous trip. Spent many a happy hour on the bridge. Loved it. Lemaire Channel was the best.
Regards
Brenda
