He will be listed in the Deaths at Sea Register for 1918. This file is held at Kew in BT334/73. I have not seen files from these years, but if they are anything to go by from pre 1940 records they usually just give the individuals name, ship name and the quarter the death was registered.

The link below is for the file number and is listed as also being available at findmypast, but I am unable to figure out how to find the details on their site.

    Thank you Deep Sea

I was contacted by FMPast today and they suggested that I go to GRO, b/c they couldn't find a record.............. I have paid £9.25 for a Death Cert and if it can't be found then I get my money refunded. Anyway, HOT OFF THE PRESS.............The Foreign Office have just replied to say that they have reconsidered my request and have decided to accept it without a Death Certificate. I will hear within 20 working days ( a month ). Finally, common sense has prevailed ! Alleluia.

    Regards

    Brenda

    Hello Billy,

Details in the attached. *note his name is spelt incorrectly*. Disregard the piece marked Pneumonia and Greenock that is from the previous entry which I couldn't edit out.

    Regards
    Hugh
