You are correct mate there is a stained glass window depicting the British Merchant Navy in the foyer of the hospital. It does clearly show the M.N. EMBLEM. I always thought it common knowledge that this hospital existed. I was once told by an old wise seaman if i ever found myself out on a limb and in distress in the capital and all else failed go to the hospital show your M.N. That the Merchant Fleet, Was given Merchant Navy status by King George v in recognition of the assistance given to the Royal Navy after the 1st world war. The said Hospital has existed and used by Royalty on many occasions, Makes sense to me Lads Regards Terry. :)

everyone keeps going on about windows. the one i saw clearly depicting the MN badge as worn in the lapel during and after the war, is a glass panel in the inner entrance door, on its own, not with other pictures. i rest my case.

Channel 4 news not long ago today showed Kate leaving hospital, a clear shot of the MN Crest, the MN lettering very clear. I would imaagine the other crests are also in the reception area, just MN is the most prominent for camera angles from outside ?

The Seamen's Hospital Society is a UK charity established in 1821 with the purpose of helping people currently or previously employed in the Merchant Navy or fishing fleets, and their dependants. The Dreadnought Seamen's Hospital continues to the present day under the NHS as the 'Dreadnought Unit' at St Thomas's Hospital and the dedicated Hospital for Tropical Diseases, part of the University College Hospitals London NHS Trust.
The society currently fund the Seafarers' Advice & Information Line, a national advice service operated by the Greenwich Citizens Advice Bureau (GCAB). In addition they provide funds to nursing and residential care units for seafarers, and help those in need by providing hardship grants.
